Bhumi Engineering

We’ve been here at Prakash Estate for quite a long time now. If you look across the road, you can see the municipal school, and sometimes when the kids are out for recess, it gets pretty loud around here, but we don't mind it. Our shop is at 14/1. It's not the biggest place in Amraiwadi, but it does the job for us. Most days start early, around nine or so, once the chai guy comes around. We spent years just figuring out the machines and how to keep things running smooth. Vastral Road is always busy with trucks and scooters, so there’s a lot of dust that settles on everything. You get used to it after a while. My father started things out, and now we just keep at it. It’s hard work, greasy hands mostly, but that’s the life of a workshop owner in this part of town. Ritanagar is just around the corner, so many of the guys who work here just walk over from their homes. We don’t have fancy offices or air conditioning that works all the time. Just some old desks, a few files, and the tools we need to get through the day. People know us by the name Bhumi Engineering, though half the time they just say the place near the school. We try to keep things simple. If a machine breaks, we fix it. If a neighbor needs a tool, we lend it. That’s just how it goes here. We aren't trying to change the world; we're just trying to keep the shop going and maybe get home for dinner on time.
