Bhavani The Unisex Salon. We are on the first floor of Deep Darshan Complex, shops 3 and 4. This is right at Jai Hind Cross Road in Maninagar. Being on the first floor is a bit different because people have to walk up the stairs, but it gives us a good view of the crossroad below. Maninagar is a busy area and Jai Hind is one of those spots where there is always something happening. We decided to make it a unisex salon so that families can come together for their grooming. It's not a huge place but we have separate sections to keep things organized. The lighting is bright and we have some big mirrors that make the room look larger than it is. We get a mix of young people and older residents from the apartment buildings around here. Some days are very quiet, especially in the middle of the afternoon when it’s too hot for anyone to be out. But once the sun starts going down, the complex gets busy and we have people waiting on the bench. We don't have a big corporate setup, it’s just us running the place day to day. We try to keep the chairs clean and the towels fresh for every person. It’s a lot of work to keep a salon running in such a busy part of Ahmedabad, but we enjoy the routine and seeing the same faces every month. We just keep the door open and wait for the next customer.
