Bharat Vijay Haircutting Saloon

Out side Shahpur Gate, the traffic never really stops. Our shop, Bharat Vijay Haircutting Saloon, is right there on Shahpur Road. If you find Bhagat Dharmashala, we are basically opposite that. It’s an old part of Ahmedabad, 380002. The building has been here for a long time and you can tell by looking at the walls. We don't have air conditioning, just the big ceiling fans that push the air around. It works well enough most days. We've got the usual barber chairs that lean back for a shave. Sometimes the razors need a bit more stropping, but we keep them sharp. People stop by on their way home or while they are waiting for someone at the Dharmashala. We hear a lot of stories about what's going on in the neighborhood. It’s a simple life. We open early and stay open until the street lights come on. The floor is old tile, a bit cracked in the corners, but it’s easy to clean. We don't use fancy shampoos or anything, just the standard stuff that does the job. Most of our customers are regulars who don't even have to tell us what they want anymore. We just know. It’s a bit noisy with the buses going past the gate, but you get used to it. The tea stall next door is good too, we get our chai from there every afternoon and talk for a bit.
