Bhagyalakshmi General Stores

Our shop, Bhagyalakshmi General Stores, is tucked away in the Haridham area of Nava Naroda. If you know where Harivila Circle is, we are just near there. Ahmedabad gets very hot, so most of our day is spent under the fan waiting for customers to come in during the cooler hours. We carry all the usual things like oil, flour, and snacks. The shelves are mostly made of wood and they have seen better days, but they hold the weight of the jars just fine. Sometimes the stock comes in late because of the traffic near the circle, but that’s just how things go in this part of the city. We don't have any fancy signs or big advertisements. Most people who come here live in the nearby buildings and know us by name. It’s a small operation, usually just one or two of us behind the counter. We spend a lot of time cleaning dust off the packets because the road outside is always busy. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We try to make sure we don't run out of the basics that people need for their dinners. There is no air conditioning here, just a simple shop where you get your groceries and go. We’ve been in Nava Naroda long enough to see the area change, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. It is just a regular life running a store.
