Our shop is up on the upper level of Shreeji Palace, right at the Paliyadnagar Cross Roads. If you know the Naranpura area well, you probably know where the Navrang School is; we are quite close to that. It is a bit of a climb up to G-10, but it’s a good spot to look out at the traffic below. Most days are pretty similar here. We open up, get the towels ready, and wait for the first customers to show up. A lot of the men from the local offices come by during their lunch breaks or right after they finish work. It gets loud sometimes because the cross roads are always full of scooters and cars honking. Inside the shop, we keep things simple. We have the old-style chairs that are actually quite heavy to move. We spend most of the day standing on our feet, cutting hair and doing shaves. It is a practical job and we have been doing it for years. Sometimes the school kids come in after their classes are done, and the place gets a bit noisy with their chatting. We don't have any big signs or anything too flashy. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. It is just a local business where we know the people and they know where to find us when they need a trim.
