Alka Beauty Parlour & Classes is down in the basement of Heera Tower, at shop number 19. We’re in the Rakhial area of Ahmedabad, right opposite the Rakhial Bus Stop. Being in the basement means it stays a bit cooler in the summer, which is nice for us and the customers. We’ve been here in Heera Tower for a long time. We do the usual beauty treatments and we also run classes for anyone who wants to learn the business. It’s a no-nonsense kind of place. We don't have big fancy displays or anything like that. Just the tools we need and a few chairs. The bus stop across the street means there are always people moving around outside. Sometimes folks just drop in while they’re waiting for their bus. We like the energy of Rakhial. It’s a working-class area and we’re working people too. We don't use any complicated marketing talk. We just tell people what we can do and then we do it. Our classes are the same way, very practical. We’ve taught a lot of people over the years right here in this basement. It’s our little corner of Ahmedabad and we’re happy with it. If you’re at the bus stop, just look across at Heera Tower and head down to the basement. We’re usually there from morning till evening, just doing the work. It's not glamorous but it's what we do.
