A-One Unisex Salon

A-One Unisex Salon is on Amraiwadi Road. We are very close to the Ambaji Temple and right across from the Hate Shower Police Chowky in the Khokhara Mehmadabad part of Ahmedabad. Being so close to the police station means it’s a safe enough spot for a business. We take both men and women here. It’s not a very large shop, so it can get a bit tight when we have four or five people inside at the same time. We have a few different sections for different things like hair cutting or washing. The walls are painted a light blue, though it’s starting to fade a bit near the ceiling. I work here with my wife every day. She handles the ladies' side of things and I do the men’s side. It’s a family business through and through. We started this shop because we both knew how to cut hair and wanted to stay in our own neighborhood. The traffic on Amraiwadi Road can be a real nightmare in the late evenings. We usually keep the front door shut to keep the dust and the noise out. We have a small plastic drawer where we keep all the combs and clips organized. Nothing in here is high-tech or modern. We just use our hands and our simple tools. Most of our clients are people who work in the nearby shops or live in the flats around the temple. We know most names and what they like.
