Our school is located in the Karmayog V Trust Building in the Sabarmati area of Ahmedabad. It’s a plain building that houses our classrooms and a small office space. We have been here for a while, serving the kids in the neighborhood. Sabarmati is a place with a lot of history, but our day-to-day life is mostly about the present. We start early in the morning, unlocking the doors and getting the rooms ready before the students arrive. The building is shared with other things sometimes, so we just stick to our designated area. It’s a lower primary school, so the atmosphere is usually loud and lively. We have basic wooden desks and plenty of charts on the walls that the teachers made themselves. There isn't anything fancy or high-tech about it. We just use what we have to teach the kids. Outside, the street can be a bit dusty and busy, but inside we try to keep things orderly. The Karmayog V Trust Building is easy to spot once you are in the right part of Sabarmati. Most of the parents live within walking distance, so there is a lot of back and forth throughout the day. We just focus on the basics of reading and writing. It’s a regular, hardworking school that fits right into the local 380005 community. We don't have a playground, but the kids find ways to stay busy during the break times.
