The school is out in the Motera area of Ahmedabad, which has changed quite a bit over the last few years with all the new apartments going up. We are 663No Lakshipur Mv School, and we have been a constant fixture in this neighborhood for a long time. The building is a Middle Vernacular setup, so we deal with students who are in that middle age group where they start getting a bit more restless in class. The structure is very functional, featuring concrete floors and high ceilings that help deal with the heat. Every morning, we line the students up for assembly in the open space out front. You can hear the traffic from the main roads nearby, but once you get inside the rooms, it is mostly just the sound of pages turning and pens scratching. We have a small wooden cupboard where we keep the sports equipment, which is mostly just a few balls and some cricket bats that have been repaired with tape. The teachers spend their breaks sitting on the benches under the shade of the trees, talking about their own families or things happening in the city. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team; people usually find us just by walking through Motera or asking someone who lives nearby. Our daily goal is simply to make sure the lessons are finished and the children stay safe until their parents come to collect them.
