Our school, 1 No. Pachnoi Ujoni Janajati High School, is located inside the I P Mission High School Compound in the Raikhad area of Ahmedabad. This is a very old part of the city and the streets around us are always packed with people and traffic. We are tucked away in a corner of the larger compound. It is a simple place where we focus on teaching students who come from various backgrounds, including those from tribal communities as the name suggests. The building is basic and has been around for many years. We have classrooms with old wooden benches and large windows to let in the breeze since it gets very hot in Ahmedabad. It is not a fancy institution by any means. We deal with the usual daily problems like fixing leaky taps or finding enough chalk for the day. The students here are generally very hardworking and they come from families who really value education. You can hear the noise of the city all day long, but inside the gates, we try to keep things focused on the lessons. The staff here are just regular people who live nearby and walk or cycle to work. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy website. People just know us because we have been here in Raikhad for so long. It is a place for learning without any unnecessary fuss.
