Vadkui Farmers Producer Company Limited also operates out of 170, Someshwara Park in Thaltej. Even though we share the address, we have our own way of doing things. The building is a regular house that we’ve converted into a working space. It sits in a quiet corner of the park, and we have a small porch where we sometimes sit in the morning before it gets too hot. Thaltej is a busy part of Ahmedabad, but once you turn into Someshwara Park, things calm down a lot. Our office is filled with the usual stuff—desks, chairs, and a lot of folders. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because it’s not really necessary for the kind of work we do. Most of the people we talk to are farmers from the areas outside the city who need help with their producer groups. They come in, sit down on the sofas, and we talk through whatever needs to be done. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere. We don't wear suits or anything formal. Usually, it’s just plain shirts and trousers, and we talk in Gujarati most of the time. The office has a bit of a lived-in feel, with some old calendars on the wall and a clock that’s a few minutes fast. We like it that way because it makes people feel at home when they visit. We’ve been here for a while and we know the neighbors, so it’s a friendly place to spend our working hours every day.
