Urbanhydro Farming Private Limited

We’re located at B-101 in Arjun Residency, which is in the C.P. Nagar area of Ahmedabad. It’s right opposite the Darshan Complex in Ghatlodiya. This whole thing started because we wanted to see if we could actually grow decent food in a city environment without needing a huge plot of land. We use water systems instead of traditional soil, which is why we’re called Urbanhydro. It’s mostly just a few of us checking on tanks and pipes all day. Our setup is basically just a room filled with equipment and some plants we’re testing out. It gets a bit cramped sometimes when we have a lot of supplies delivered. We aren't some big high-tech lab you’d see in a movie. It’s more of a hands-on, messy process where we’re constantly adjusting the nutrients and making sure the lights are working right. Sometimes the pumps fail in the middle of the night and we have to rush over to fix them before the roots dry out. It’s a lot of work that people don’t see. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anyone to answer the phones in a professional way. We’re usually just busy with the plants. Most people in the building just see us carrying bags of minerals or plastic tubing up the stairs. We’re just local folks trying to figure out a better way to do urban farming right here in Ahmedabad. It is a bit of a struggle, but we enjoy it.
