We're out here in Reldi Moti village, which is part of the Bhuj taluka in Kutch. This place has a specific kind of soil and the weather gets really dry, but that's actually okay for what we do with dates. Pravin Valji Dabasiya is the one who handles a lot of the coordination at his place in Moti Reldi-81. Being a farmer producer company means we're basically a bunch of local growers who decided to pool our resources instead of trying to handle everything alone. The sun in Kutch is pretty intense most of the year, so we spend a lot of time out in the fields making sure the trees are doing alright. It’s not always easy work, especially when the rains are late or the heat stays around longer than usual, but we've lived here all our lives and know how to manage it. We focus on the dates because they grow well in this district. People around here know us from the village or through families. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that, just our space in the village where we get things organized and talk about the harvest. It’s mostly about getting the fruit ready and making sure the quality is decent before it heads out. We’ve been working together for a bit now, and it’s better than working separately because we can share tools and ideas when things get tough during the picking season.
