Bavla Krushi Bajar Association is right here in the meeting hall at the Cotton Market Yard. If you know Station Road in Bavla, you know exactly where we are. It’s a busy spot, especially during the peak season when the cotton starts coming in from the fields. We spend most of our days inside this hall talking to folks who come by from all over the Ahmedabad district. The building itself has been around for quite a while and shows its age in the walls and floor, but it does the job for what we need. Usually, the morning starts early with some tea and a bit of talk about the local weather or how the crops are looking this year. We don't have any fancy furniture or shiny office stuff. It’s just some plain desks and chairs where we can sit down and get the paperwork sorted. People come and go throughout the day, looking for help or just checking on things at the yard. Being in this part of Gujarat, the heat can get pretty intense in the afternoons, so the hall is a good place to stay out of the sun for a bit. We keep things very simple here. There’s always a bit of dust on the windows because of the trucks moving around outside, but that’s just how life is at the market. Most of us have been working around here for years, so we know the faces of the people who walk through that door. It’s not a big corporate setup, just a local place where we manage the association’s business every day until the sun goes down and we head home.
