Vivekanand Inter College

Over in Jarua Katra, Agra, you’ll find Vivekanand Inter College. It’s a place that has seen many generations of students pass through its doors. Being in a city like Agra, we are used to the bustle and the constant activity outside our gates. The college is a bit of a landmark in the 282010 area. We have a big gate that stays open most of the morning as students arrive from all over the neighborhood. The rooms are large with high ceilings, which helps a bit with the summer heat. We spend a lot of time preparing for the board exams, so the older students are always buried in their notebooks. The teachers here have been around for a long time; some of them even went to school here themselves years ago. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have much in the way of luxury, just sturdy wooden benches and plenty of ink for the registers. The courtyard sees a lot of action during the breaks, with students standing around talking or playing quick games of kabaddi. We deal with the usual things like lost ID cards and parents asking about attendance. It’s a busy, sometimes loud, but very honest place to work. Once the students head home in the late afternoon, the building feels huge and empty. We just lock up, check the windows, and get ready to do it all again.
