Tulsi Devi Girls Inter College

We are situated at 11/26 in the Shah Ganj area of Agra. It’s an old part of the city, and our girls' college has been a part of this community for a long time. The street outside can be quite narrow and busy, typical of Agra, but once you step inside the gates, it’s a different world. It’s a space where the girls can focus on their studies without too much distraction. The classrooms are basic with old-style benches and chalkboards. We don't have high-tech gadgets or anything like that. It’s more about the interaction between the teachers and the students. Many of the girls come from families that have lived in Shah Ganj for generations. We know most of the parents by sight. The building is an older structure, so it has high windows and thick walls. It stays reasonably cool even when the Agra sun is beating down. Our daily routine is very consistent. Prayer in the morning, then classes, then a break where you can hear a lot of laughter and talking. We have a small office that handles all the administrative stuff, and it’s usually piled high with registers and notebooks. We aren't a corporate institution. We are just a local school trying to provide a decent education to the young women in our neighborhood. It’s a modest place, but it’s important to the people who live around here and we take that seriously.
