Sri Udayveer Singh Int College

Located out in Vill-Jonai, Sri Udayveer Singh Int College is where most of the local teenagers from Saiyan and nearby parts of Agra end up for their higher secondary studies. Being in a village, things are a bit different here compared to the schools in the main city. We don’t have a big fancy bus fleet; most students just walk through the fields or come on their bicycles. The college building is a simple concrete structure, and we try our best to keep it tidy, though the mud from the village roads always finds its way inside. It’s a quiet spot, away from the heavy traffic of the highway, which is nice for teaching. We focus a lot on the basics because the board exams are a big deal for families here. Many of our students are the first in their homes to go this far in education, so there’s a lot of pressure on them. Our teachers live nearby and they often know the families of the kids they teach. It’s not unusual for a parent to stop a teacher on the road to talk about a son’s math grade. We have a small ground where the boys play cricket when the weather isn’t too hot. It gets dusty in the summer and a bit damp in the rains, but we just get on with things. It’s a practical place for practical learning, nothing more.
