Shri Padam Singh Inter College

Shri Padam Singh Inter College is out in Kiraoli, which is a bit of a drive from the main Agra city. We are located in Abhedonpura. It is mostly quiet out here compared to the city center. The roads are a bit narrow and dusty, especially when the tractors go by during harvest time. The building is simple. We have the classes for the older kids mostly. In the mornings, you can see groups of students walking along the side of the road or coming on bicycles from the nearby clusters of houses. There is a big gate and a small yard where they stand for the morning prayers. Sometimes the goats from the nearby houses wander near the entrance. We have basic rooms with blackboards and wooden benches. It isn't a modern glass building or anything. It’s just a place for the local kids to get their schooling done without having to travel all the way into Agra every single day. The teachers come from various parts of the district. We usually start early before the sun gets too strong. In the winter, it gets quite foggy and we all huddle in our sweaters. We don’t have much in the way of big equipment, just the books and the desks. It’s a very local thing, everyone around here knows us. We’ve been here at this address for quite some time now and the community is used to seeing us.
