Shree Kirodi Lal Shahstri Degree College

Our college is right here in Jagner, which is a bit of a drive from the main Agra city. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot because the building can get quite warm in the afternoons. We have students coming in from all the nearby villages and they usually arrive on cycles or the local buses. The college name, Shree Kirodi Lal Shahstri Degree College, is painted on the front wall but it’s starting to fade a little bit now. Inside, the rooms are simple with wooden benches and blackboards that we have to clean every morning. It’s not a fancy place but it gets the job done for the kids around here who want to finish their degrees. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit near the windows to get some air. The office is always full of papers and files because there is so much paperwork for the university. We spend a lot of time talking to parents who come in to ask about their children’s exams or marks. Jaganair is a quiet area mostly, though the main road gets some noise from the trucks passing through. We’ve been here for a while now and most people in the locality know where we are. It’s just a regular part of the neighborhood where people come to learn and move on to their next step in life. We keep things simple because that's what works for us and the students.
