D P Inter College

Agra gets really hot in the summer, and out here on Balkeshwar Road, you can feel it. Our college is located in Saraswati Nagar, right where the traffic starts to pick up near the temple area. D P Inter College has been around this part of town for years. If you come by in the morning, you’ll see rows of bicycles parked out front because that’s how most of the boys and girls get here. The building is a solid structure, nothing too modern, just brick and concrete that stays cool-ish when it’s boiling outside. We spend a lot of time checking registers and making sure the classrooms have enough chalk for the day. The bell rings every forty-five minutes and you can hear the shuffle of feet on the stone floors. It’s a bit of a trek for some students who come from the outskirts of Agra, but they make it. We have a small yard where they stand for the morning prayer. The paint on the main sign is peeling a little, but everyone knows where the entrance is. Teachers sit in the staff room during breaks, drinking tea and talking about the exams coming up. It’s just a place for learning, nothing more than that. We don’t go in for big displays or anything like that. It’s mostly just hard work and keeping things running day to day at this address. We are just a local institution doing the work that needs doing.
