D B S S Khalsa Inter College

D B S S Khalsa Inter College is located out in Pratappura, which is part of the Agra area. It is a bit of a way from the main city and the tourist spots. The school is an inter college, so we have students who are finishing up their high school years. The building is made of old brick and looks quite sturdy, though it could probably use a fresh coat of paint in some of the hallways. We have a lot of students from the surrounding village areas who come here every day. The mornings are usually cold in the winter, and everyone shows up wrapped in sweaters. We follow a pretty strict routine with the classes and the bells, trying to keep everyone on track. The staff room is always full of tea cups and stacks of notebooks that need checking. We do not have a huge amount of modern technology here; it is mostly just traditional teaching with chalk and boards. Sometimes the kids help out with cleaning up the courtyard or moving desks around. It is a very grounded sort of place where the focus is just on getting through the day and making sure the students are prepared for their final exams. There is a sense of history here because the college has been around for a long time. People in the village know us well, and we are just a part of the local landscape now.
