Bhupendra Kanya Inter College

Bhupendra Kanya Inter College is situated in Shyamon, which is on the outskirts of Agra. It’s a place for girls to come and finish their schooling. The area around here is quite open, with some fields nearby. The building itself is older and has that solid, lived-in feel to it. Every morning, the students arrive from the surrounding villages, some walking and some coming on cycles. We have a big gate at the front and a courtyard where everyone gathers for the morning assembly. The classrooms are basic with high ceilings to help with the Agra heat. Sometimes the dust from the road blows in, so we are always cleaning the desks. We have a small office where the principal sits and handles all the paperwork. It’s a busy place during the exam season, with everyone stressed out and studying hard. We don't have many fancy facilities, but we have enough rooms for all the classes. The teachers have been here for years and know the families in Shyamon quite well. It’s a straightforward school where the focus is just on getting through the syllabus every year. Things move at a steady pace here, and we just keep the doors open for anyone in the area who needs a place to study. The afternoon sun hits the back of the building quite strongly before we close up.
