Kumirmari Marijjhapi Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is based out of Kumirmari, which is right in the Sundarbon Coastal area. If you know the region, you know it’s a lot of water and trees around here. We work out of Ankan Mondal’s place. It’s a simple setup because we are mostly farmers trying to figure out how to do things better together. Being a producer company means we have to talk to a lot of local growers and organize stuff. It’s a long way from the big cities, so things move a bit slower, but that’s just how it is. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to get around, especially when the tides are high or it's raining hard. We spend a lot of time discussing seeds, weather, and how the crops are doing. There’s a lot of talk about the soil and the water levels. We aren't a big corporation with fancy desks. Mostly, we meet up, sit down, and try to plan for the next season. It’s hard work being a farmer, and doing it as a group helps a bit with the stress. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields actually pays off. It’s a quiet life in Kumirmari for the most part. We all know each other here. Every day is a bit different depending on what needs to be harvested or planted. Sometimes we just sit on the porch and talk shop for hours until the sun goes down.
