Harindanga Women Farmer Producer Company Limited

Harindanga Women Farmer Producer Company Limited is situated right in Harindanga village. Our post office is Chaberia and we fall under the Falta police station in South 24 Parganas. This company is run by the women here in the village who have been farming these lands for years. We decided it was time to organize ourselves so we could have more of a say in how our crops are sold. It’s not always easy balancing the farm work with the office work we have to do now. We meet up in a small room in the village to talk about what we’re planting and how to get better yields. We don’t have any fancy equipment or big computers. It’s mostly just us and our notebooks. We know every inch of the fields around Harindanga. Most of us have grown up here and learned farming from our parents. We’re just trying to make a better living for our families. Sometimes the weather in South 24 Parganas is tough, especially with the storms and the heat, but we manage. We aren’t trying to impress anyone with big words or polished reports. We just want to work hard and see our crops grow. It’s a local effort and we’re proud of what we’re doing together as a group. We hope our children will see the value in this work too.
