Sanchary Women Primary Producer Company Limited

This group of ours is based in Khulna, out here in Sandeshkhali. It’s a group for the women in this part of North 24 Parganas. We started Sanchary because we wanted to have something of our own. Most of us have been working in the fields or at home for years, so coming together as a primary producer company felt like the right move. We handle things together now. It’s not always easy because we all have chores at home and kids to look after too. But we meet up and talk about what we’re growing or making. The office is just a simple place in the village. It gets a bit loud when everyone shows up at once to talk about the accounts or the next batch of produce. We don’t have fancy equipment, just what we’ve always used, but we try to be organized. Some days are slow, especially when the weather is bad and the roads get muddy, but we keep at it. It’s good to see the women here getting more confident about handling the business side of things. We aren't experts in big city business, but we know our work and we know our land. We just want to make sure the work we do actually brings something back to our families. It is a slow process, but we are all in it together here in the village. Sometimes we just sit and talk about how to make the next month better than the last one.
