Painganga Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based in the village of Yevati, at Baburao Dyanba Shinde’s place. It’s a quiet village, and the Painganga Farmer Producer Company Limited name comes from the river that’s so important to our fields. Life here revolves around the seasons. When it’s harvest time, you won’t find anyone in the office because we are all out working. But the rest of the year, we gather at Baburao’s to plan out the next steps. We are a farmer producer company, which sounds formal, but it’s really just a way for us to stick together. The village of Yevati is where we grew up, and we know every acre of the land around here. Our office doesn't have a big sign outside. You just ask for the Shinde house. We deal with the day-to-day problems of farming like bugs, rain, or the lack of it, and the cost of transport. We share our experiences and try to help each other out. It’s not always smooth; there are plenty of disagreements about which seeds are better or when to sell the grain. But we are all in the same boat. The room we use for our meetings is simple, with just enough space for a few of us to sit and go over the books. We don't have any slogans or big promises. We just work the land and try to keep our little company running so our families can have a slightly better life. That is basically what we do every day.
