Asoli Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in Asoli, over in Ghatanji, right here in the Yavatmal district. You can usually find someone at S.R. Todkari’s place if you need to talk about the company. This whole thing was started because a bunch of us farmers wanted to have a collective voice in this area. Yavatmal is known for its farming, but it is a tough life and we wanted to see if we could manage things a bit better as a group. We spend most of our time out in the dirt, so the office work is something we squeeze in when we can in the evenings. It’s a very basic operation. We don’t spend money on stuff we don’t need. Most of our meetings happen under a tree or on a porch nearby. We talk about the crops, the market prices, and how to get things from the field to the buyer without too much loss. It’s not always easy to agree on everything, but we get by because we are all in the same boat. We aren't experts in business, but we know how to grow things and that is what matters most to us at the end of the day. Being in Asoli means we are part of a tight community where everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We just keep moving forward one day at a time, trying to make sure the farming stays sustainable for the next generation around here. It’s just us.
