Badhra Gopi Farmer Producer Company Limited started because a bunch of us in the village needed a better way to handle our produce. We are based out of Rohit Kumar’s place in K Ugopi. It is a quiet spot, but we stay busy enough. There is always a tractor moving or someone bringing in bags of grain. We mostly look after the interests of the local farmers around here. It is not like those big companies in the city. We are just farmers ourselves who decided to join up. Rohit helps manage the day-to-day stuff at the house. You might see us sitting on the porch talking about the rain or the cost of fertilizer. It is practical work. We don't have a lot of money for big signs or fancy furniture. The point was always to make things a little easier for the families living in K Ugopi and the Badhra area. Some days the paperwork gets a bit confusing, but we manage. We learn as we go. It’s a lot of talking to neighbors and figuring out who needs what. We handle the sales and try to get a fair deal for everyone involved. It is a community thing, really. We’ve been at it for a while now and plan to keep it going as long as the land gives us something to harvest. It is just honest work by local people.
