If you're walking down Gurudwara Road in Uttam Nagar, you'll see Vishal Pharma at Shop No-4. We are right near Shankar Dairy, which is a big landmark for everyone around here. My day starts with the sound of the milk trucks and the general bustle of the morning market. The shop is small but we use every inch of the walls for storage. It’s a busy street, so there’s always something happening outside the door. I’ve spent many years behind this counter. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We have our own way of doing things, like how we file the invoices in those old plastic folders. The floor is made of old stone, and it stays relatively cool even when it’s hot out. People from the nearby streets come in mostly because they’ve known us for a long time. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. We just stay open until late evening and make sure we have the common items people are looking for. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use the backup lights, which makes the shop look a bit different. Dealing with the suppliers on Gurudwara Road can be a headache sometimes because of the narrow lanes. But we make it work. It’s a honest living and we are just part of the local scenery now, right next to Shankar Dairy.
