Uday General Store

The Uday General Store sits right near the Lal Mandir in Deepak Vihar. Most people use the temple as a guide to find us. It is a quiet enough spot compared to the main roads. We sell the usual stuff you would expect from a general store like milk, bread, biscuits, and household items. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful with how we stack the boxes. Sometimes things get a bit messy behind the counter, but we know where everything is kept. I have lived in Deepak Vihar for years, so I know most of the people who walk through the door. It is nice to see the same faces every day. We don't have fancy lights or any loud music playing. Just the sound of the ceiling fan and people talking. If someone needs a particular kind of cooking oil, we try to keep it in stock. We deal with small change and loose notes all day long. It is not a complicated business. We open the shutters in the morning and close them late in the evening. There isn't much to say about it other than we are here to provide the basics for the families living around Lal Mandir. We don't do deliveries or anything like that; people just walk over when they need something for their kitchen. It is a simple life. We like the routine of it and the way the neighborhood feels like a community.
