South Indian Store

Tossangipur Market is a busy place, and we are right in the middle of it at Wz-43 C. It gets quite loud outside with the scooters and people walking through Janakpuri, but inside it is mostly just us keeping things in order. We spend a lot of our time unpacking crates and putting stuff on the shelves where it belongs. The floor needs sweeping pretty much every hour because of the foot traffic. It’s not a very big space, so we have to be careful about where we stack the bags so people can still walk around. Sometimes the regulars come in just to complain about the traffic or the weather while they pick up what they need for their kitchen. We know most of the faces around here by now. It’s just a regular store where we try to keep the staples ready for whoever walks in. The morning is usually the hardest part, getting everything set up before the main crowd hits after work. We don’t have any big signs or anything like that, just the door open to the street and a bit of light. If someone asks for something we do not have, we try to remember it for next time we talk to the suppliers. It’s just the daily grind of running a shop in a village market that’s slowly being swallowed by the city. We keep a ledger by the counter and try to stay on top of the inventory.
