Shiv Kiryana Store

Our store is located in the Nangloi Janta Market, right at Y-362. It’s a typical kiryana store, so it’s always smelling of spices, soap, and grains. We’ve been in this market for a long time now. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, filled with everything from lentils and flour to biscuits and cleaning supplies. It gets very crowded in the Janta Market, especially in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work. We spend our day weighing out items on the scale and packing them into small bags. It’s a lot of lifting heavy sacks and moving crates around. The floor is concrete and the counter is old wood that’s seen a lot of use. We don't use any high-tech systems; we mostly just write things down in our register. It’s a simple life. We know what our customers like, whether it’s a specific brand of tea or a certain type of rice. Sometimes we run out of space and have to stack boxes on the sidewalk for a bit. It’s just the way things go in a busy market like Nangloi. We don't have any big marketing plans or fancy ads. We just open the shutters every morning and wait for the regulars to stop by for their daily groceries. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk every single day.
