Sachdeva General Store

Chawri Bazar is a very old and busy part of the city, and our store is tucked away in the Charkhewalan area. Sachdeva General Store has been around for a long time, and the building shows its age with the old walls and the heavy wooden door we lock up every night. Inside, it is packed from the floor to the ceiling with all kinds of household things. We have bags of flour, jars of spices, and stacks of soap bars. We also have those glass jars filled with colorful candies that the kids like. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. The light isn't very bright, but we know exactly where every single item is kept on the dark wooden shelves. My father started this place, and I’ve been sitting at the counter for more years than I can count. We see the same faces every morning when people come to get their daily supplies. Outside at 3815, the lane is always full of people pushing carts and the smell of street food from the nearby stalls. It gets very loud with all the shouting and the bells of the rickshaws. We don't have a website or anything like that, just this physical shop where we keep track of everything in a thick register. It is a simple life, just minding the store and talking to the neighbors while we weigh out lentils or pack up sugar.
