Kumar General Store

My store is in the A11/2 area of Mohan Garden, over in Uttam Nagar. We are right near Shyam Park, which is where most people go for a walk in the evening. It’s a typical neighborhood shop. I opened it because the area needed a place where you could just grab the basics without a long walk. I spend most of my day behind the counter. My son helps out after his college classes are done. We stock everything from lentils and rice to soaps and biscuits. The shelves are pretty packed, and sometimes I have trouble remembering where I put the smaller items. It’s a loud place because of the street traffic and the kids playing nearby. We know almost everyone who walks through the door. We hear all the local gossip and news before anyone else does. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of the dust from the road. We don't have a fancy cooling system, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day. It’s a simple life, selling things to neighbors and making sure we don't run out of the popular stuff. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late and I have to apologize to the regulars. It’s just how it is running a small general store. We are just a part of the daily routine for people living in Mohan Garden, and we like being part of the community here.
