About Bombay Mechanical Works – Machine Tools in West Delhi
Down at Sudarshan Park, right in the main market area at number 27. It's a crowded spot, especially on weekends when everyone is out buying things. We have our little corner where we handle all the mechanical jobs that come our way. The workshop isn't very big, so we have to be careful where we put the tools. Most of the time, there’s a smell of oil and metal shavings in the air. It’s a busy street, so you hear people shouting and horns honking all the time while we are working on a piece of equipment. Sometimes a neighbor drops by just to chat while we’re finishing up a repair. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. You just walk in and see the work being done right there on the benches. It’s a lot of manual labor, pushing things into place and making sure the parts fit right. The lights flicker a bit sometimes when we turn on the bigger machines, but we’re used to it. We just keep our heads down and get through the pile of work on the desk. Every morning starts with a sweep of the floor, though by lunchtime it’s messy again with scraps and bolts. That’s just the way a workshop like ours stays. People know where to find us in the market if something breaks down and needs fixing for their cars or small engines.
