Royal Punjab Family Dhaba

We are out here in Arepally on the Mulugu Road in Hanamkonda. Our door number is 6-78, though most people just look for the sign as they drive by. Being a family dhaba means we are usually in the kitchen or cleaning up the tables. It gets very hot near the stoves, especially in the afternoons when the sun is hitting the front of the building. Warangal is a warm place to begin with, and the dhaba life doesn't make it any cooler. We serve basic food that people can eat quickly before they get back on the road. The chairs are mostly plastic and the tables have simple covers that we wipe down a hundred times a day. We see a lot of truck drivers and families who are traveling between cities. There is no menu with fancy pictures, just what we have cooked for the day. We start our prep work early in the morning while the air is still a bit cool. Sometimes we run out of things and have to tell people to wait, but that’s just how it goes in a small place like this. We don't have air conditioning, just a few big fans that move the air around. It is hard work and our hands are always busy with something. We just stay here in Arepally and keep the stove going for whoever stops.
