Vizag Steel Plant

Working at the Vizag Steel Plant in the DCM (CPS) section is a lot of hard work. We are based specifically in the engineering shops and the foundry. If you’ve ever been near a foundry, you know it gets incredibly hot. There is no way around the heat when the furnaces are going. Our days are spent dealing with molds and molten metal, and it is a heavy environment to be in. The scale of this place is huge, so just getting from one side of the shop to the other takes a bit of time. Everything here is covered in a fine layer of dust, and the sound of heavy machinery is constant. It is not the kind of place where you wear a clean shirt for very long. Most of the staff have been here for decades, and we have our own way of doing things. We don't worry much about how the office looks because we are rarely in it. Most of our time is spent on the floor, making sure the castings come out right and the engineering parts are handled properly. It is honest, tough work that leaves you tired at the end of the shift. The foundry has its own rhythm, and you just get used to the noise and the grit. It’s a massive operation, but down here in the shops, it feels more like a community of people just doing their jobs.
