Our spot here in Visakhapatnam is located in the P & T Colony. Being in Andhra Pradesh, specifically this part of Vizag, means we deal with a lot of humidity and that salty sea air. The office is pretty basic. It’s not one of those tall buildings you see in the newer parts of the city. We are situated in a more established, quiet neighborhood. For Tata Steel Ltd, this is just a practical location to handle local matters. The building is a bit plain, but it serves its purpose. We don’t have any fancy art on the walls or a coffee machine that does anything special. Most mornings start with a quick chat about the weather before we get into the logs and reports. The P & T Colony has a lot of trees, which helps keep the sun off the building a little. It’s a long way from the headquarters, but we stay busy. You can hear the distant sounds of the city, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of typing and the occasional phone ringing. We’ve got a small area for files and a couple of desks that have seen better days. It’s an honest place to work. No one wears a suit unless they absolutely have to. We just focus on the tasks at hand and try to get home before the evening traffic gets too bad. It's a simple life here in 531 001.
