R I N L Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has a presence here at 7/8/74 in Vikas Nagar. This isn't the main massive plant itself, but our local office where we handle the day-to-day business of steel distribution and records. The office is quite plain, mostly filled with metal filing cabinets—which makes sense given what we do. There are always people coming in to check on orders or sign for deliveries of rebar and steel plates. It smells a bit like old paper and industrial metal in here. Vikas Nagar is a decent area, but it gets quite congested, so getting trucks in and out can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We have a small staff who have been working together for years, so we have our own way of doing things that might seem a bit disorganized to an outsider, but it works for us. We use old ledgers alongside the computers because we like having a physical backup of everything. There is no corporate polish here; the walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the chairs are a bit squeaky. We just focus on the steel. It is heavy, cold, and reliable, and we try to run this office the same way. When the sun goes down, we lock up the gates and head home, just like everyone else on the street. It is a lot of hard work but it keeps us busy and we like the routine.
