Hindustan Shipyard Ltd

Down here in Gandhigram, we spend our time at Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. It’s a busy place. You can hear the sounds of work from quite a distance. It is not a quiet office job by any means. We deal with big structures and a lot of steel. There is always something being moved or fixed. The weather can be tough sometimes, especially when it’s raining hard, but the work has to continue. We have a lot of people coming in and out every day. It's a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it. Our address is 530005, right here in the Tripura area. We don't really do the whole polished business look. Most of us are in work clothes because things get dusty. It’s a lot of physical reality here. You see things being built from the ground up. Sometimes parts are delayed or a machine breaks down, and we just have to figure it out on the fly. It's practical work. We’ve been part of this landscape for a long time. People around here know the shipyard well. It’s a landmark. We aren't trying to sell you anything fancy. We just build and maintain what needs building. There’s always a bit of grease and salt in the air, which you just get used to after a week or two. It’s hard work, but it feels good at the end of the day when you see progress.
