Venkataramana Cement Works

We have been working out of this spot on Eluru Road for quite a long time now. Most people in Machavaram know where we are because we sit right near the Andhra Bank ATM. It is a busy stretch of road and it can get pretty loud with all the traffic passing by throughout the day. Dealing with cement is heavy, dirty work and there is always a layer of grey dust on everything in the office, but that is just how the business goes. Our building at 3-2-146 is not anything special to look at, just a practical place where we store the bags and keep our records. We spend most of the morning unloading trucks and moving things around so they are easy to get to when a customer shows up. Sometimes the big lorries have a hard time backing in because the street is so crowded, so we have to go out and help guide them. It is mostly just a few of us here doing the lifting and the paperwork. We do not really bother with fancy signs or big advertisements because folks usually just see us while they are out running errands. When the sun gets too hot in the middle of the afternoon, we usually sit back for a bit and have some tea before the next load comes in. It is a simple way to make a living, and we have seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years. We just keep our doors open and do the work.
