R K Coffee House

People know us here in Wasliganj, right near Sankatmochan Road. It’s a busy part of Varanasi, especially with all the people heading toward the temple or the cantt area. My name is on the registration, but mostly it’s just a few of us making sure the coffee stays hot and the seats are somewhat clean. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and motorbikes honking, but inside, it’s mostly just the sound of the milk steamer and people talking over their cups. It isn't a fancy place with air conditioning or soft music. We have basic tables and chairs that have seen better days. Usually, the morning starts around six when the first batch of milk arrives. We spend the first hour just getting things organized and wiping down the counters from the dust that blows in from the road. The afternoon gets really hot, so the fans stay on full blast, even if they make a lot of noise. We see the same faces every day, mostly locals or people working nearby who need a break. We don't do anything special, just keep the stock ready and serve whoever walks in the door. Sometimes the supply of sugar or tea leaves runs low and we have to scramble, but that’s just how it goes here in Mirjapur. It’s a simple life, just running a small shop and watching the city go by outside our front door.
