Ayyars Cafe

Varanasi is a crowded place, and Godowlia is right in the middle of all that noise. Our cafe is situated under the Banaras Lounge on Dashaswamedh Road. If you are walking toward the ghats, you can’t really miss the area because it’s always packed with people, rickshaws, and cows. We are quite close to the Lara India Hotel, which helps people find us when they get lost in the lanes. The space is small and can get quite loud when the street traffic is at its peak. We have some basic tables and chairs, and the walls have seen a lot of years. The tea is always brewing, and there is a constant clatter of cups and spoons. It’s the kind of place where you can hear the bells from the temples and the horns from the road all at once. We don’t have fancy decorations or a big menu; we just keep things the way they’ve always been. The dust from the road settles on the windows, so we are always wiping things down. Most of our day is spent greeting the locals who stop by for a quick break from the sun. It’s a bit chaotic, but that’s just how things go in Godowlia. We like being part of the old city vibe, even if it means dealing with the constant bustle and the heat of the Varanasi afternoons while we work.
