Ashish Cafe

Ashish Cafe is situated at B-1/185 in the Assi area of Varanasi. Being near the Ganga Mahal and Assi Ghat means there is always a lot of movement around us. You can hear the temple bells and the sound of people walking down to the river all day long. Our cafe is a small spot where we serve basic stuff to eat and drink. It is not a fancy place with expensive furniture or anything. We have a few tables and chairs where people can sit and take a break from the heat. Varanasi is a very old city and our building feels that way too. We spend most of our time making tea and coffee and serving small bites to travelers and locals. The street outside is narrow, like most paths near the ghats, so it feels very crowded sometimes. We know most of the people who walk past our door every morning. Running a cafe in Assi is interesting because you meet people from all over the world, but we just treat everyone the same. We do not have a big menu. We just make what we can and try to keep things running smoothly for those who visit. Some days are very quiet and we just sit and watch the street, while other days we do not have a moment to breathe. It is a good place to be if you like being near the water and the old parts of the city.
