Maa Shiv Shakti Tea Store

We set up Maa Shiv Shakti Tea Store here in Marufganj quite some time ago. If you find the Gandhi Murti, you are basically there. It’s a landmark that everyone in the area uses for directions. Our store is mostly about the raw tea leaves that we sell by weight. You can smell the tea from a few doors down when we open up the big sacks in the morning. The air in Marufganj is always full of different smells because of the other shops, but ours is the best if you ask me. We have different grades of tea piled up. Some people want the strong stuff for their morning cup and others want something lighter. The floor is concrete and we have these old wooden shelves that hold the smaller packets. It gets a bit dark in the back of the shop, so we have to keep the light on even during the day. Sometimes children play near the statue outside and their voices drift in. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions on the scales and tying up bags with twine. It is simple work but it keeps us busy. My uncle started this and now I help out with the daily sales. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. People just walk in, tell us what they need, and we chat about the weather for a bit. It is a steady way to spend the day. We stay open until the market starts to quiet down.
