Amit General And Tea Center is located in Kamla Market, which is on Panchkroshi Road in the Shivpur area of Varanasi. We are very close to St Joseph School, so we see a lot of parents and kids passing by every morning and afternoon. The pincode for this part of Varanasi is 221003. The shop is a mix of things, with the tea stove going on one side and shelves of general items on the other. You can usually smell the tea leaves boiling and the sugar. We spend most of the day making tea for people who are taking a break from their errands. It gets very busy when school lets out at St Joseph. We have jars of biscuits and packets of snacks sitting on the counter for people to grab. The Panchkroshi Road is always full of bikes and rickshaws, so it is quite noisy. Inside the tea center, we have a few small stools for people to sit on for a minute. We keep the general store side stocked with basic things like soap and matches. It is a simple life in Shivpur, just boiling water and handing out tea. We do not have a fancy menu or anything like that. People just come for a regular cup and a quick chat. It has been our routine for a long time now and we just keep going with it every day until we close.
