Aarjika Creations

Aarjika Creations is tucked away at D 37/60-61 in the Baradeo area. We’re right by Kodai Ki Chowki in Godowlia. If you know Varanasi, you know how these lanes are. They’re narrow, crowded, and always full of life. Our shop is right in the middle of that mess. We do all our creative work here. It’s an old building, like most things in Godowlia, so the walls have some character. We spend most of our time dealing with fabrics and designs. It can get pretty hectic during the festival seasons because the streets outside are packed with people. Sometimes it’s hard to even get a rickshaw to the door. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a workspace where we sit and work on our creations. There’s always the smell of incense from the nearby temples and the sound of bells in the background. It’s a very traditional place to work. We have a few regular people who help us out, and we mostly just talk about the work and the local news over tea. We’ve been in this spot for years. It’s not the most organized place—there are sketches and cloth pieces everywhere—but it’s where we feel at home. We just keep doing what we know, day after day, in this little corner of Baradeo. It is a busy life but we enjoy the creative process.
