K. B. Art Craft is set up at K- 4/ 53 A, which is right near Lal Ghat and Gai Ghat in the Maidagin area. This is a very old part of the city, and our workspace definitely shows its age. The buildings are squeezed together and the streets are so narrow that cars can’t really get through. We do our craft work in a small, crowded room filled with all sorts of supplies. You’ll find bits of wood, hand tools, and unfinished pieces laying on almost every surface. It is a bit of a mess, but we always know where our favorite tools are. The air usually has a faint smell of wood or glue hanging in it. Being so close to the ghats means we hear the temple bells and the constant flow of people going to the river. Our shop doesn't have any large windows or fancy lighting. It is just a quiet, local place where we focus on what we can make with our hands. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we just have to wait or move closer to the door to see. We don't have a website or a big sign out front. Most of our visitors are people who live nearby or heard about us from a friend. We’ve stayed at Gai Ghat because we like the history of the place and the way the light comes in during the afternoon.
