Down in Chittanpura, specifically the Atgharwa area, you’ll find our cooperative society. The address is A-32/59-A, but most locals just know where the silk weavers are. We’ve been operating as the Silk Weavers Production Cooperative Society Ltd. for a long time. This isn’t a modern factory with glass walls. It’s an old-school setup where the craft comes first. You can hear the looms clicking and clacking throughout the day. It’s a rhythmic sound that we’ve all grown used to. We are a group of people working together, sharing the space and the effort. It’s not always easy, especially when the market changes, but we stick to what we know. The rooms are often filled with the bright colors of thread and finished cloth. It’s a bit cramped sometimes because we have so much material, but we manage. We don’t do much in the way of advertising. Our reputation is just based on what we produce. People know that if they come to Chittanpura, they’ll find real work being done by hand. We take pride in the skill, but we don't go around bragging about it. It’s just our livelihood. We drink our tea together and talk about the weave. It’s a simple life focused on the fabric we make every single day. We don't have a big office or a management team, just ourselves and our skills and the work that needs finishing by evening. We just keep the traditions going without making a big fuss about it.
