Utsav Ice Cream

If you go down to Station Road Shivji Chowk Bhaji Market, you’ll see Utsav Ice Cream. Being right by the Bhaji Market means it is never quiet. There’s always someone shouting, or a rickshaw honking right outside the door. We’re also near Kharadi Road and Chandan Nagar 1, so the foot traffic is pretty constant. The shop itself is tucked away near the vegetable stalls. Every morning, we have to navigate through the crates of tomatoes and onions just to get the shutters open. The floor gets muddy when it rains because of all the feet coming in from the market. We spend a lot of time mopping. It’s a small shop, and the freezers take up most of the room. We have some lights that flicker a bit, but we’ve learned to ignore them. People stop by after they finish their grocery shopping to cool off. It’s a bit of a hectic environment, but there’s a lot of life in it. We know the other vendors nearby, and we often trade a cold cup for some fresh fruit. It’s that kind of place. We don’t have a website or anything like that. If people want to find us, they just look for the Shivji Chowk sign and follow the noise. We stay open late because the market stays busy until the sun goes down. It’s a long day, but seeing the crowd keep coming in keeps us going.
